United Student Government Responds To The Crisis In Haiti

21 01 2010

Dear Friends,

As you all know by now, the unprecedented humanitarian tragedy caused by the recent earthquake in Haiti has taken the lives of thousands, with untold scores of innocent people trapped in the rubble or displaced within this devastated nation.

United Student Government is prepared to do its part in order to help alleviate the suffering of the people involved in this crisis and their families and will contribute to Fordham University’s ongoing plan to raise funds for the relief effort.

On Thursday, January 21st at 6:30pm in the Faculty Lounge of the McGinley Center, we will dedicate time on the agenda to discuss the next steps in coordinating student fund raising efforts with USG. Everyone is encouraged to submit ideas at this meeting as we join together to help the people of Haiti through this trying time.  Thank you for your support.

An Open Letter on Christmas

25 12 2009
Dear Friends,

As this semester comes to a close and we all return home to the comfort of our families to enjoy the holiday season, I would like to thank you for the support that you have given United Student Government this year. We entered last Spring with many goals to accomplish and several important issues to address and thanks to your help we have been able to finally transform our idealistic words into effective actions.

From the formation of the Student Government Alliance of New York City to the ongoing negotiations for the Walsh Library late night hours to the increased town hall meetings with upper level administrators, the successful lobbying against higher education aid, and the proposal of Maroon Square–you have been our strength and we have worked hard to be your voice.

I promise you that next semester will bring even greater progress from United Student Government, as we use our final months to advance additional policy changes, build new working-relationships, and improve the overall quality of life for our Fordham University community.

Please enjoy the rest and relaxation of the winter recess, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with peace, joy, and love.

Thank You,

John Tully Gordon
